Schultz : Telegram is user-friendly... I agree... also regarding desktop version. It has a lot of nice features.
BUT: In case you want privacy in Telegram, you have to use private chats (special manual selection). And for these chats you don't have a desktop version! And private group chats: NO!
EDIT: And METADATA: somewhat difficult...
They will plant a keylogger, use a hole in the android, in Russia or RB and will not do it, it is easier to break your fingers or use a rectal cryptanalyzer. Security is a complex issue, and you can't solve it with a messenger, that's the question

Any reputable messenger has had a desktop version for a long time.As far as I'm concerned, Telegram is the most homey and user-friendly messenger.
