How to save all conversations

I have Threema installed on my Android phone, and also on my Linux notebook for more comfortable search and writing with a real keyboard.

For SMS messages, I use a backup program which saves all SMS to an email account.

I would like to also save my Threema conversations to an easily searchable place. Either to email, or simply to plain text and media files in my computer. Is this possible somehow?

Also, I don't want any encryption to be used, since my point is to be able to access my messages with simple searches, and from any machine. (Yes, I realize that Threema's "raison d'être" is, at least in part, encryption and security. But that is not something relevant to my use case, and I don't care at all about "security" of my messages)

    Thanks for any help

  • In the Desktop app (Version 2.5.0 (1.2.27) Lütispitz) on Linux, I see no way to save/export.

On the phone itself, the only thing I found is to

    • manually do an encrypted .zip backup to the phone itself. (I need to set a password for the .zip file)
    • I can then copy that to my desktop (using AirDroid; maybe there is a better way?)
    • 7z is able to unzip the file when given the password defined previously.

The resulting files are then indeed unencrypted. But they would then need processing to become usable (add extensions to media files, convert the .csv to something readable, etc.).

Is there a better way which I have missed? Or is that really the only way to export the conversations and media files?

If it's the only way, did someone already write a script to process these files?

    Thanks
